The difference between a camless spring machine and a cam spring machine
2021-07-23
Many customers hesitate when choosing between cam spring machines and non-cam spring machines. First, we need to understand what a cam spring machine is. The earliest cam spring machines in China originated from Taiwan. One motor drives the wire feeding structure, while another motor drives the gear on the machine panel. The gear drives the camshaft to rotate, and cam pieces are installed on each camshaft to control the movement and timing of the slider. The earliest cam spring machines had two shafts. Later, a core shaft was added for easier debugging, evolving into the most common 3-shaft spring machines on the market today. Cam spring machines have been introduced since the 1990s, with nearly 30 years of history. The technology is mature but quite old. The advantages are low equipment cost and reliability, while the disadvantages include complex debugging and high requirements for operators. They are suitable for single, large-volume products and factories with skilled technicians. Non-cam spring machines originated in the early 2000s, with models appearing around 2007. They replace the camshaft with independent servo motors driving each arm, optimizing debugging methods and time. Since each arm's servo motor is independently controlled, programs can be stored and reused. The downside is the much higher cost due to many servo motors and multi-axis computer control systems. The machines are generally larger and heavier than traditional cam spring machines. In short, non-cam spring machines are easier and faster to debug, with programmable storage, but have complex structures and high costs, and require less from operators.
When choosing the right spring machine, the main points to consider are: whether the product is single or diverse, whether the personal budget is sufficient, and whether there are enough operators available. Once these points are clear, the answer is basically known. Times are evolving, technology is continuously advancing, and there will always be better technologies replacing old ones. Regardless of development, focusing on the present and choosing what suits you best is the key. We wish all customers can buy the machines they desire.
