The innovation in flatbed machines has shaken up the entire industry.

Wherever there are people, there’s a *jianghu* (a world of intrigue and rivalry)—and wherever there’s a *jianghu*, you’ll find bonds of loyalty, grudges, and romantic entanglements. For those of us who build machines, wherever machines exist, there’s a *jianghu*—and wherever profits are on the line, so too are the tensions, rivalries, and personal stakes that define it.

Today, we’re talking about what Southern Chinese people commonly call the "flat machine"—a 2D wire-forming machine or flatbed machine. Before Silverfeng entered the market, this industry was dominated entirely by Guangdong’s Foshan region. Countless small workshops churned out a wide variety of these flat machines, capturing nearly the entire market. For over a decade, these machines have remained incredibly popular in the crafts production sector thanks to their simple design, rugged construction, affordability, and user-friendly operation. At the time, the machines’ casings were strikingly basic: just a few angle irons welded together, with thin metal sheets added in a few strategic spots. Even the wire-feeding boxes were often repurposed from rudimentary designs originally used in makeshift "earth cannon" machines. Paired with a straightforward iron wire rack and powered by a couple of stepper motors, these machines could be assembled at a remarkably low cost—and naturally, they sold for very little too. After all, the demands for crafting these products were minimal, while output volumes remained sky-high, ensuring that there was still a robust market for them.

The introduction of the Yinfeng flat machine was inspired by repeated suggestions from Sales Director Deng Wei. Over years of market development, Director Deng recognized the wide-ranging potential of flat machines—these tools shouldn’t be limited to crafting items that don’t demand precision. On the contrary, they can find extensive applications in areas such as kitchen and bathroom stainless steel products, automotive components, furniture, supermarket shelving, and countless other industries. Driven by this vision, Director Deng, along with General Manager Lü and Chief Designer Engineer Zhu, engaged in multiple in-depth discussions about the design, functionality, and future prospects of the flat machine. After thorough research and repeated refinement, the fully imported 4-axis flat machine—with servo motor control—was finally launched in 2017. The wire-feeding mechanism is powered by a Japanese Sanyo servo motor, ensuring wire-feeding accuracy within ±0.03mm, thereby delivering exceptional stability across all products. Meanwhile, the bending axis, controlled by another Sanyo motor, precisely manages bending angles while incorporating an innovative lifting mechanism. Traditional flat machines often generate significant noise, with lifting and wire-feeding systems being the primary culprits. Additionally, older models typically relied on hydraulic shearing methods, which lacked both stability and cutting-edge precision. In contrast, the Yinfeng flat machine employs advanced servo-driven cutting technology—delivering not only remarkable precision but also quieter operation and greater cutting force. To elevate performance even further, the Yinfeng flat machine features a state-of-the-art 6-axis spring machine control system, replacing the outdated, simplistic PLC found in conventional models. This new system makes programming far more intuitive, accurate, and flexible—allowing users to seamlessly switch between programs and even store over 2,000 distinct product configurations. Finally, every aspect of the machine—from its robust body structure and intricate wire-feeding system to the sleek machine panel and sturdy base—is meticulously crafted using a single CNC machining center. By leveraging high-precision manufacturing techniques typically reserved for premium spring machines, Yinfeng has transformed what was once considered a basic, entry-level flat machine into a cutting-edge, ultra-high-accuracy solution capable of meeting the most demanding industrial needs.

Upon its launch, the YinFeng flatbed machine immediately garnered over 80 orders that same year. Many discerning customers who tested the machine firsthand on-site gave it high praise, even managing to win back several long-standing clients from the traditional low-end segment of the crafts industry. As technology continues to advance and labor costs rise, this highly precise, cutting-edge equipment delivers unmatched efficiency, consistently producing top-quality results while significantly reducing the need for manual intervention. Now, operators can easily oversee more than six machines simultaneously—dramatically cutting labor expenses in the process.

In 2018, Yinfeng’s flatbed machine was further upgraded to integrate planar forming, bending, and welding into a single unit, earning a substantial number of orders that year—and simultaneously spurring the entire industry to improve. From 2019 to 2020, the company secured over 150 orders each year, demonstrating that market recognition is the greatest reward for our mechanical designers.
